So after a few days with Starcraft 2, playing against the Very Easy and Easy AI on various maps, I am incredibly interested in this chess on steroids. Obviously, even the hardest AI isn’t an analog to a human opponent. Yet, I’ve wrapped my mind around the mechanics of the game well enough, I believe I could do very well against the lower tiered opponents. Of course, I’ll get rocked at the beginning, but what normal person doesn’t have a hard knock life when first venturing into a new frontier. The catch is the game is fun enough to keep going.
As my first post, I’d like to talk about Starcraft 2. Leslie and I downloaded the Started Edition, and playing Co-Op vs AI on Easy mode. Following huskystarcraft’s Terran Basic Opener (Terran Tutorial - Basic Opener - StarCraft 2 - YouTube), we managed to destroy one AI, and reduce the other to a Supply Depot and a Command Center. Unfortunately, that’s not really a basis for skill, since the computer is such a pushover. More to the point, the Starter Edition doesn’t let you queue up against Battle.net players without buying the complete game, and I’m not sure I’m ready to invest $60 into Chess on steroids just yet.
